First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.
Location: Participants will meet in front of the Visitor Center, a short 1 minute walk from the main parking lot.
Parking: Parking is $10.
What to Expect: Walk with us beneath giant trees to learn about coast redwoods and experience the redwood forest. Please bring weather-appropriate clothing and be prepared to walk 1 mile on flat, easy trail. Event is cancelled only if park is under a high wind advisory.
Length of Hike: 1.0 mile, 2 hours
Preparation: Please wear weather appropriate clothing and attire. Please note that the redwood forest is about 5-10 degrees colder than forecasted weather.
Special Instructions: Hike will only be cancelled in the event of a high wind advisory.
Ages: Appropriate for ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Pets allowed: No
