First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.

Location: Park on Moorpark Street and start your hike at the Moorpark Gate Entrance. There will be flyers posted and staff available to guide you through the hike.

Parking: There's free two public parking available along Moorpark St.

What to Expect: Enjoy a self-guided First Day Hike featuring prompts to help you unplug and connect with the Parks unique natural and cultural features. Art supplies will be available on January 1st and the weekend to help you sketch, write, or express your discoveries.

Length of Hike: 0.2 mile, 7 hours

Preparation: Wear clothing and shoes appropriate for hiking. Bring a water bottle and jacket for cooler weather.

Special Instructions: Event will happen rain or shine.  

Ages: All Ages. Children are welcome. Add a note that children must be accompanied by an adult.
