As we wander through life, our path changes beneath our feet. Just like our lives, this First Day Hike will follow several different paths. We will start out by going counterclockwise on Bluff View Trail until we get to White Connector 1. From there, we will use White Connector 1 to access River Trail. We will then hike the River Trail loop before getting back on White Connector 1 and completing the Bluff View Trail loop, for a total of 2.5 miles.

Along the way, we will explore woodlands, glades, river bottoms and bluffs, and we will stop at two CCC-constructed trail shelters. In addition, there may be opportunities to spot wildlife such as deer, bald eagles and maybe even a river otter. Throughout the hike, your guide will provide commentary about these features and will share stories about the park.

We'll meet at 11 a.m. in front of the visitor center to use the restrooms and then drive to Fireside Store parking lot. Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring snacks, water, hiking sticks and binoculars for this moderately challenging hike. The hike should take about two and a half hours to complete.

This event is free, open to the public, and suitable for all ages. Due to the natural, uneven trail surfaces, the hike is not accessible for wheelchair users.

Registration is required for this event and can be completed by clicking here.
