First Day Fossils!
It's your first hike of the year! Start it off with some fossils and scenic views!
Start the new year off right with your first hike!
Join us on a guided hike to hunt for prehistoric animals still embedded in the rocks of Pedernales Falls! As we hike we'll talk about the geology of the park and what we've learned the park likely looked like millions of years ago. We'll show you how to find the oldest fossils you can find in the park and maybe see some live animals along the way!
- Meet at the Falls parking lot to join in.
- This hike is about .5 mile long and descends into the riverbed. The hike starts off on a gentle sloping gravel path until the overlook. Then there are steep surfaces, slippery surfaces, and rocky terrain. You can choose to only accompany us to the overlook and turn back there if you'd like.
- Wear comfortable shoes for hiking on rough surfaces, and weather appropriate clothing.
- Child and dog friendly.
- Normal entrance fees required to enter the park, no additional fees to attend this hike!
