To kick off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, SJMA welcomes back solo guitarist and music instructor Thien An Nguyen for another unique and compelling performance. Hailing from Vietnam, he has spent the last decade exploring the cross-cultural, expressive possibilities of percussive fingerstyle guitar, a technique that produces an intriguing visual performance as well as a rich, multidimensional sound. This singular performance will blend bilingual vocals, original compositions, and traditional Vietnamese tunes with pop, R&B, and rock classics.

Thien An Nguyen is a self-taught solo guitarist and music instructor. Hailing from Vietnam, he has spent the last ten years dedicating himself to mastering fingerstyle percussive guitar, a passion that began without formal guidance. Through a blend of self-learning and exploration, he has delved into genres like pop, R&B, rock, and instrumentals. Through a process of self-discovery, Nguyen has embraced fingerstyle percussive guitar, a style that profoundly shapes his performances and defines his musical identity.
