Bellevue Little Theatre, 203 W. Mission Avenue in Olde Towne Bellevue, will welcome members of the Omaha Mastersingers, a well-known Omaha a'cappella musical group, to the theatre. The musical group will present a cabaret style concert which will feature musical selections composed by Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart and by Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Admission to the cabaret is by donation which will be accepted at the door.
 
Refreshments will be served at intermission, and all ages are invited to attend this 'family friendly' event.
 
Richard Rogers collaborated with Hart from 1925 until Hart's death in 1942. The pair composed musicals such as 'Babes in Arms' and ;Pal Joey' .Those musicals contained familiar favorites 'My Funny Valentine', The Lady Is a Tramp', and 'Bewitched', as well as many other popular songs.
 
After Hart's death Rogers turned to lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, and the team continued to produce memorable musicals, beginning with 'Oklahoma' in 1943. Their collaboration produced 'South Pacific', 'The King and I', Flower Drum Song', 'The Sound of Music' and other delightful musicals.
 
Familiar songs by Rogers and Hammerstein include ''Oh What a Beautiful Morning', 'Some Enchanted Evening', 'Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair', and 'The Sound of Music' and many other memorable and 'singable' songs. Many of the musicals by Rogers and Hammerstein subtly addressed themes such as prejudice and domestic abuse, themes that were not a part of normal musicals of that era.
 
These musicals by Richard Rogers with partners Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein are still popular with theatre-goers today, and helped to establish musical theatre as one of the leading draws to Broadway. Many of their respective collaborations have been responsible for long 'runs' on Broadway.
