Morean Center for Clay proudly unveils Simpler Times: Remembering Windy Meadows Pottery, a collection of Jan Richardson’s mini-architectural sculptures from her studio in Maryland. Pieces date back to 1977, featuring historical New England buildings, each constructed individually by hand with whimsical flair. The first pieces were built on her kitchen table and evolved to consume most of the buildings on her farm. 

“I was so delighted and influenced by the local architecture in my valley, much of which was post-Civil War. I loved how the buildings aged both physically and environmentally, sagging and changing colors as they weathered. Eventually, I introduced ideas from other architectural eras, delighting in Victorian mansions, lighthouses and places that caught my fancy,” said Richardson.
