The Key Biscayne 4th of July Parade began in 1959 when locals Tommy Sikes and Arthur Yehle invited friends to march through the streets in celebration, complete with a makeshift band, “The Chowder Chompers,” and kids on decorated bikes.
Today, 66 years later, the all-volunteer parade features around 55 entries and costs $70,000 to produce. Known as “The Best Lil’ Hometown Parade in South Florida,” it’s supported by t-shirt and button sales, a festive BBQ, and generous local sponsors.
