A Lenten Taizé prayer service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, and will include a healing service for anyone in need of physical, emotional, spiritual or relational healing. The service will be held in the Lighthouse room of the church at 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.

By its very simplicity, Taizé welcomes the mystery of God and allows that mystery to become tangible. Taizé services include vocal and silent prayer intertwined with simple, sung meditative refrains and readings from Scripture that instill a peaceful, meditative serenity. The prayer form traces its beginnings to war-torn Taizé, France, when a group of young Christians from Eastern Europe settled there in August 1940. Since then, Taizé prayer has spread throughout the world.

Following Taizé reflection, those seeking special prayers will be invited to stand and an individual – a pray/er – will join each person standing to pray, one on one with that person, while the entire community present prays silently for each petitioner’s confidential intentions.
