Please join us for our 10th Annual Manu O Kū Festival! As we celebrate this important milestone, we have an exciting day planned to help honor the official bird of the City & County of Honolulu. This year’s festival will include:
- 20 organization and agency booths providing family friendly crafts, activities, and information about native environmental and conservation efforts
- bird scopes and bird walks to view the nesting Manu O Kū on ‘Iolani Palace grounds
- kids nature-themed costume contest (scheduled to start at 1:30pm)
- photo ops and parade of our group of costume characters to include Hina the monk seal and Aloha Kea the Manu O Kū…and more
- educational and informative talks
- multiple musical entertainers to include a performance by the Royal Hawaiian Band and ukulele duo Corey Fujimoto and Kalei Gamiao
- Hula performance by Kumu Hula James Dela Cruz and Nā ‘Ōpio a me Nā Kupuna O Ko‘olau
- “Bruddah Bryan” Min emcee
- instructional painting opportunities with Patrick Ching
- Keiki Reading Corner with special author readings of beloved children’s books about the Manu o Kū
- Art Display tent featuring various art projects centered around the Manu o Kū
