City of O'Fallon to Host Memorial Day Observances.

The City of O'Fallon will honor the courage and sacrifice of our nation's veterans with two special Memorial Day observances on Monday.

The day will begin with a Memorial Day service hosted by VFW Post 805 at 9:00 a.m. at the O'Fallon Cemetery. This 30-minute event will feature remarks by Mayor Eric Van Hook, pre-ceremony music by the OTHS Band, a flag display by the O'Fallon Fire Department, the playing of Taps, and a three-round volley by a ceremonial firing team. Community members are encouraged to attend this respectful and moving tribute.

Later that morning, the City will hold its annual Memorial Day Observance at 11:30 a.m. at the O'Fallon Veterans Monument, located at 737 Wesley Drive, O'Fallon, IL.

The Veterans Monument ceremony will include keynote remarks from Captain Tim Raymie, U.S. Navy, Director for Intelligence, USTRANSCOM, as well as from Mayor Eric Van Hook. The program will also feature contributions from the OTHS Air Force Junior ROTC, VFW Post 805, Miss O'Fallon Katie Zimmerman, OTHS Band Ensemble, OTHS Choir, and Colonel Larry Strube (Ret.), among others. The names of veterans newly inscribed on the monument will be introduced and honored.

Pre-service music will begin at 11:15 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and water. Veterans are invited to wear their medals and decorations.

In case of inclement weather, the 11:30 a.m. ceremony will be moved indoors to First Baptist Church, located at 1111 East Highway 50, O'Fallon, IL.

Join the City of O'Fallon and the community in paying tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country.

City Offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2025.
