Enjoy a meditative musical performance and beautiful views.
Soak in the view of the Garden's lakes and Evening Island as you listen to a relaxing musical performance. While you are here, take a walk, or grab a bite at one of our dining locations. Morning music events run rain or shine, and will be moved to Nichols Hall on days with inclement weather.
Join us for a joyful morning of live music and cultural celebration with the talented young musicians of the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance's Latin Music Project. These emerging artists will showcase their skills through a spirited performance of traditional Puerto Rican music, celebrating the island's rich heritage through rhythm, melody, and movement. This special concert will also feature guest performers from the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, including members of Los Pleneros de Don Segundo, and their most recent concept “Pleneros y Poetas”. Harnessing the power of plena as music of resistance, the project funded by Healing Illinois, brings together Chicago-based poets and pleneros from different neighborhoods to explore improvisation, storytelling, as well as shared and unique struggles within their communities.
Together, they will present a lively set of Puerto Rico's most beloved musical traditions. Perfect for families and music lovers of all ages, this performance offers an inspiring glimpse into how the next generation is preserving and reimagining Puerto Rican musical traditions right here in Chicago.
