The public is invited to the free Monthly Movie Matinee screening at the Pembina State Museum on Saturday, May 31. This month we are showing “The Métis and the Oxcarts of the Red River,” a documentary by Dan Hegstad produced for Lakeland PBS. Hegstad visits many of the important sites of the Métis oxcart business of the 19th century and explores the impact the oxcarts had on the region. Screenings will begin at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Pop and candy will be available for sale in the Museum Store.
Visitors that day are encouraged stop by our Build-a-Cart craft station in the lobby to make a model oxcart with popsicle sticks to take home. The craft is for those ages 6 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided, and there is a limit of one cart per person.
