North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck will host the National History Day in North Dakota state competition. Students in grades six to 12 who qualified at regional contests in Dickinson, Bismarck, and Fargo will present research through exhibits, papers, performances, websites, and documentaries on historical subjects featuring this year’s topic, “Rights & Responsibilities in History.” The public is invited to view the performances and documentaries beginning at 11 a.m. Exhibits are on view from 1:15 to 2 p.m. The awards ceremony is at 2:30 p.m.
Following judging, the top entries from this competition are invited to the national contest at the University of Maryland at College Park in June.
National History Day was established in 1974 and currently engages more than half a million students nationwide in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. Students present their research as a documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, or website. For more information, visit nhd.org.
