The powerful Tony Award-winning musical Parade tells the heartbreaking true story of Leo Frank, a man accused of murder, and the tragic events that followed.
In 1913, Leo Frank, a Jewish man from Brooklyn living in Georgia, stands trial for the murder of thirteen-year-old Mary Phagan, a factory worker he employed. Even though he maintains his innocence, he is already condemned by the public, and a sensationalist newspaper publisher along with a false testimony from a janitor seal his fate. The few people who defend him include a governor who cares about justice and, eventually, his Southern wife, who finds the courage to become his strongest advocate.
With a soaring score by Jason Robert Brown and a deeply moving story by Alfred Uhry, Parade explores themes of religious intolerance, political injustice, racial tension, and the enduring power of love in the face of overwhelming adversity.
