The beloved local musical about the first all women’s town council in 1920s Jackson Hole returns to the Pink Garter stage!

Petticoat Rules is a lively musical comedy about Jackson Hole’s extraordinary past, celebrating the historic election of the nation’s first all-female government in 1920.

Plot Summary

The show centers around Rose Crabtree (Julia Gold), a sharp-witted hotel owner determined to make Jackson a better place. Frustrated by the town’s crumbling infrastructure and the ineffective male leadership (led by her own husband) Rose bands together with Grace Miller (River Nelson) and a formidable group of women to run for office. Encouraged by her unlikely friend, Cissy Patterson (Sarah Hollands Dropinski), a vivacious East Coast socialite, Rose and the women of Jackson sweep the election. Utilizing their grit, determination and some plain old common sense, they transform Jackson’s governance and prove that, when Roosters Crow, Hens Deliver!

Written by veterans of the New York theatre scene, Pam Drews Phillips and Mary Murfitt, Petticoat Rules truly brings history to life. Featuring hilarious dialogue, unforgettable songs and a cast of eccentric characters (all of whom are based on historical figures), it is a love letter to Jackson Hole’s wild past and a call to honor the pioneering spirit that continues to shape its future.
