7:30pm: Brahms and Oscar
A Concert of Resilience and Recovery:
Hailed for his "golden timbre and virtuosic flair" (New York Times), trumpeter Jens Lindemann joins the dynamic pianist Stephen Prutsman, who is currently Visiting Artist at Stanford University, and celebrated violinist Chee-Yun for a program spanning from Brahms's Horn Trio to Oscar Peterson's iconic Canadiana Suite. Recognizing the recent tragedy brought by the California fires, this program includes a new commission for trumpet, violin and piano by California-based composer Peter Golub.
PROGRAM:
BRAHMS: Horn Trio, Op. 40
PETER GOLUB: Newly Commissioned Work (world premiere)
O. PETERSON: Canadiana Suite
Both composer Peter Golub and trumpeter Jens Lindemann lost their homes in the California fires and this program celebrates the spirit of resilience and recovery.
The new work by Peter Golub is commissioned by Stephen Prutsman, Osvaldo Golijov, Barry Shiffman, Michael Hostetler and Rockport Music.
