Start your year off on the right foot. Or the left if you prefer! Whichever foot you choose, we hope you'll make it outside to enjoy the many benefits of nature!

How to Participate:

Pick one of over 25 miles of hiking trails.  (Be sure to grab a trails map!)

Choose a theme:

Change (Example:  Canyon erosion, meandering stream)

Be the Change (Example: respecting one another by staying at least 50 yards away from wildlife, picking up litter)

New Start/New Life (Example:  young wildlife, something growing)

Resilience/Persistence (Example:  A member of the Texas State Bison Herd, a plant growing out of a rock)

Take a selfie related to the theme of your choosing.

Show your selfie to the ranger at the Park Headquarters/Visitors Center on your way out of the park between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to receive your First Day Hike sticker.

Note: The Park Headquarters/Visitors Center will be closed from 8-10 a.m. and 2 - 5:00 p.m. The park will remain open.
