Join us for a 3-day celebration this weekend at Statesboro First United Methodist Church, marking the 65th birthday of our church sanctuary as well as the completed restoration of our magnificent sanctuary pipe organ! Friday, November 14 at 6pm will be our Silent Movie Night featuring two short movies, "The High Sign" (1921) and "The Goat" (1921) starring "The Great Stone Face" Buster Keaton with a "Movie & TV Theme Pop Quiz" in the middle. All are accompanied by Dr. Jackson Borges at the organ. Saturday, November 15 at 6pm will feature "Great Masterworks for Organ" played by Dr. Borges and featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Florence Price, Brenda Portman, Joseph Jongen and more. Our festivities end November 16 at 11am with our Service of (Re)Dedication. The SFUMC Chancel Choir (Dr. Jackson Borges, director) will join forces with the Southern Chorale of Georgia Southern University (Dr. Shannon Jeffreys, director) in choral works of Mary Brahe and Helen Taylor, Anton Bruckner, Sir C. Hubert H. Parry, Peter Lutkin, and great hymns of faith. You won't want to miss this very special weekend!
