Join us for the Strings Music Festival!!
Schedule of Events:
10:00 am: Music on the Green: Pat Waters
Join us every Wednesday morning this summer for our weekly free concert series, co-presented by the Yampa River Botanic Park. With concerts lasting just 45 minutes, it's the perfect way to enjoy a summer morning.
This week's featured artist, Patrick Waters, hails from Iowa City, IA, the vibrant home of the University of Iowa. His musical journey began in 5th grade with a drum set, quickly progressing to formal lessons and participation in the school band by 7th grade. Coincidentally, he discovered his singing voice through the school choir the same year.
After high school, Patrick headed east to Ithaca, NY, to attend Cornell University, where music transitioned from a casual pastime into a true passion. It was there that he joined Blindman's Holiday, a band whose dynamic sound earned them extensive radio airplay throughout upstate New York and beyond. Touring relentlessly, they shared stages with renowned groups including The Band, The Wailers, Rusted Root, and Widespread Panic, and released two widely appreciated albums.
As a solo performer, Patrick's expansive repertoire appeals to diverse musical tastes. It spans iconic acoustic melodies from the '60s and '70s by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd to engaging multi-instrumental interpretations of contemporary favorites by Sublime, Ben Harper, and Beck.
As co-owner of the local live music venue Schmiggity's since 2014, Pat has been instrumental in contributing to the live music scene in Steamboat. Pat currently plays in 7 local Steamboat Bands, including: Wish You Were Pink, Heads All Empty, Constant Change, Bella Band, Chamberlin Birch, Speak of the Devil and The Worried Men.
