Tartuffe

By Molière, adapted by Constance Congdon from a literal prose translation by Virginia

Directed by Emily Hall

Constance Congdon’s witty verse adaptation of Moliere’s timeless classic, in which a religious conman infiltrates the household of a gullible man and his exasperated family.  When the religious hypocrite Tartuffe is taken into their home and promised Orgon’s daughter’s hand in marriage (even as he secretly attempts to seduce Orgon’s wife, Elmire.) Everyone else in the family sees through Tartuffe’s hypocrisies. Will his real intentions be exposed? Will the family be saved from eviction? Will Orgon be thrown into prison? Come along for the hilarious romp to find out!
