On Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1, the Alzheimer’s Association and Tanner Community Development Corporation are teaming up to host two engaging events designed to educate, inspire and uplift those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia. Held at the Bulpitt Auditorium at Phoenix College, both events combine music, story telling and education to highlight and bring awareness to the impact of Alzheimer’s and inform guests about available resources for caregivers. Event details are as follows:

 

Memories Through Music

Friday, Feb. 28 | Doors open at 3 p.m.; event begins at 4 p.m.

This experience features legendary R&B group Sister Sledge along with Sisters on Pointe and a special historical music group. Celebrating the powerful link between music and memory recall, this event encourages audience participation to create an immersive and emotional experience.

 

The Heart Keeper

Saturday, March 1 | Doors open at noon; event begins at 1 p.m.

A moving stage play written and directed by Chrystee Pharris, The Heart Keeper follows a family’s journey as a mother’s fading memory forces them to confront long-buried truths and unspoken love. A profound reflection on resilience, forgiveness and family bonds, this play features an all-star cast including Cheryl Francis Harrington (“Tulsa King”), Chrystee Pharris (“The Golden Voices 2”) and Thomas Anthony Jones (“Good Trouble”). Following the performance, a panel discussion and question and answer session will be held, featuring representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association and other community organizations.

 

The cost for Memories Through Music is $15 per person; the cost for The Heart Keeper, panel discussion and question and answer session is $10 per person. Combo tickets, including admission to both events, are $20 each. Tickets can be purchased via tinyurl.com/tcdcpresents.
