The Saratoga Historical Foundation presents “The History of Winemaking in Santa Clara Valley and Santa Cruz Mountains”  by David House at 7:00 PM on Zoom on February 17.  Santa Clara Valley is the oldest wine region in Northern California dating back to 1777 when Franciscan padres founded Mission Santa Clara de Asis and planted grapes in its vineyard for sacramental wine.  Travel in time with us and hear about your favorite winery.

Dave House developed a taste for wine while entertaining customers as an executive at Intel between 1974 and 1996. Upon retiring, he planted a vineyard around his home in Saratoga and expanded his vineyards by buying more contagious land and planting more vines. This evolved to be House Family Vineyards, a winery serving great wine with great views of the valley and Mountains, a family business on his 73 acres in the Saratoga foothills. From 2001 until recently he was one of four owners of the Mountain Winery. Dave has combined his love of wine production with his love of history while exploring the history of winemaking in the Santa Clara Valley and Santa Cruz Mountains.
