Discover the inspiring life of George Washington Carver at the George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond, Missouri. Born into slavery, Carver became a renowned educator and agricultural scientist at the Tuskegee Institute. This day trip includes an informative orientation film, a one-mile guided tour of the monument grounds, and a hands-on activity in the peanut lab, where Carver’s agricultural innovations come to life.
Join us for an educational experience that honors the resilience, ingenuity, and legacy of one of America’s most influential figures. You’ll also have time to explore the museum and learn more about his impact on science and agriculture. Please note: individuals with peanut allergies should exercise caution during the lab activity.
Lunch is included. Transportation is available. Location and travel information will be sent prior to the date of the hike.

This course is an in-person course. Participants will drive themselves (commuter rate) to the location of the class or may elect to meet the transportation group (details to be provided) and follow behind the van to the class location. Meeting details will be sent in the class reminder.

Tom O'Neal worked in health care administration for 35-plus years, beginning as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and later primarily as CEO or COO of non-profit hospitals around the country. Tom has an undergraduate college degree from Rutgers University and a Masters of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia.
