The C.M. Russell Museum proudly announces a historic milestone for its prime fundraising event, The Russell, scheduled for March 20–22, 2025. This premier Western art auction will feature over 125 historic pieces, including more than 20 iconic works by Charles M. Russell. This event marks the largest sale of Russell and historic Western art in the 57-year auction history and one of the most significant auctions of Russell’s work worldwide in the past two decades.
In addition to the extraordinary Russell art, The Russell 2025 will present an unparalleled catalog of works by his contemporaries, such as O.C. Seltzer, Joseph Henry Sharp, Edgar S. Paxson, Maynard Dixon, Henry Farny, Edward Borein, and Eanger Irving Couse.
“Thanks to the incredible consignment by the family of Sam and Elaine Rosenthal, this year’s auction features not only exceptional Russell works but also the most comprehensive collection of his contemporaries we’ve ever offered,” says Duane Braaten, Director of Art and Philanthropy for the C.M. Russell Museum
