Parade

The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament will host it’s annual parade on Sunday in the City of New Bedford at 2pm.

The parade will start at 2:00 p.m. with over forty different organizations marching the one mile route from Brooklawn Park to the Feast grounds at Madeira Field.

In the past we’ve had brass bands, fife & drum bands, bagpipers, popular singing groups, pirates, clowns, jugglers, militias, beauty queens, delightful floats, classic cars and lots of fun and surprises for everyone.

Parade Route:

The parade begins at Brooklawn Park and proceeds south on Acushnet Avenue to Earle Street, turns east onto Earle Street and continues to the Immaculate Conception Church.

It then turns north onto Madeira Avenue and proceeds to Madeira Field
where it enters the Feast grounds and past the reviewing stand at Stage 1.

Pasteis de Nata (Portuguese Custard Tarts) New this year, Pasteis de nata, or Portuguese custard tarts, with their signature flaky crust and sweet custard filling, are world-famous and incredibly delicious. Why not experience an expresso and “Nata” at the Museum of Madeiran Heritage Café, or get some at our “new” baracca on Hathaway Street!

Milho Frito– Here’s a special offering that will bring back memories of what your Portuguese grandma used to make to accompany a big meal. Cornmeal, garlic, finely shredded kale and quick dip in hot oil makes this old favorite a great snack item to go along with some carne d’espeto. Offered for sale near the carne d’espeto barbecue pit!
