Helena, MT - The Montana Democratic Party Interim Executive Director, Justin Ailport, released the following statement as Donald Trump marks six months in office:

“Donald Trump promised he’d lower prices in Montana, but the opposite is happening. He said he wouldn’t touch Medicaid, yet tens of thousands of Montanans risk losing their health coverage and food assistance. Rural hospitals in Montana risk closure or a reduction in services, and job loss and increased energy prices are on the horizon. 

This is NOT what Montanans signed up for, and Montana’s all-Republican congressional delegation is helping Donald Trump lead the country into the ground.

Senator Daines, Senator Sheehy, Congressman Zinke, and Congressman Downing are siding with Donald Trump and his billionaire backers, not the people of Montana. It’s time they’re held accountable for their complicity.” 

Thanks to Trump, Senator Daines, Senator Sheehy, Congressman Zinke and Congressman Downing: 

• Nearly 56,000 Montanans will lose health insurance 
• 7,000 Montanans are at risk of losing food assistance 
• Nearly 4,000 Montanans could lose their job 
• The median household in Montana will lose $750 from the Trump Tax alone. Combined with Trump’s reckless tariff agenda, the median household will lose nearly $1,700 annually 
• Eight rural hospitals in Montana are at risk of closing 
• Montanans’ electricity bills will rise by 5.7% and Trump’s reckless tariffs have already cost Montana businesses $20 million
