From: San Antonio African American Book FestivalThe San Antonio African American Book Festival (SAAABF) is held every year, on the Last Saturday of Black History Month at Second Baptist Community Center (3310 E. Commerce Street) right next door to the historic G.W. Carver Branch Library in San Antonio, Texas. This Annual Black History Month event was created to celebrate the Power of Black Literature, reinforce the fact that Representation Matters and to proudly Encourage Black Economics.
Literacy improves our lives by expanding the capabilities that reduce poverty by increasing the likelihood of success in educational and career endeavors, which have proven to have positive effects on a community's health and overall quality of life. Literacy empowers and liberates people.

Black Literature has shaped our history, culture and who we are as a people
Representation Matters
Studies show people are more likely to read when they have access to books written by authors they can identify with, about subjects and characters in a voice that resonates with them
Black Economics
Buying Black is more than a trend - it's a necessary way of life! Circulating Black dollars is one of the single most important things we can do to improve the economic health of the Black Community
