THE COLORS OF CURACAO 2-disc DVD

Our Caribbean Series DVD Sale continues, and this week we're spotlighting the vibrant soul of Curaçao, an island where the majority of the population is of Afro-descendant heritage, tracing their roots back to the era of the transatlantic slave trade. This rich history has shaped a unique culture, brimming with resilience, creativity, and a profound sense of identity – all beautifully captured in our featured double DVD set: The Colors of Curaçao.

At the heart of Curaçao's artistic landscape stands Felix de Rooy, a visionary Afro-Curaçaoan filmmaker, artist, and cultural icon. His work delves deep into the complexities of identity, spirituality, and the enduring legacy of colonialism. This special double DVD brings you one of his most powerful films:

THE COLORS OF CURACAO

Ava & Gabriel: A Love Story: De Rooy's landmark romantic drama set in the 1940s. This groundbreaking film tackles themes of love, race, and social prejudice with sensitivity and grace, offering a poignant glimpse into Curaçao's past.

Addressing the complex and difficult state of race relations in the Netherlands, "Papa's Song" (Sander Francken, 1999, 95 mins.) is "an interesting drama of domestic tension and cross-cultural misunderstanding" (The New York Times).
