Bonjour !

Thanks to all who came to our apéro last Thursday! Check out our instagram stories @afdenver for a quick look at our time together! This week, we are pleased to introduce you to our teacher of the week, Sylvie Deloge!

Sylvie was born in France and grew up in the suburbs of Paris. After she completed a master’s in foreign Languages and Economics at the University of Paris 10, she worked as a humanitarian full-time volunteer for a year in England and in Canada. She moved to the United States in 1996 and started teaching French. After a few years, she took a break and held jobs with increasing responsibilities in the finance and marketing fields. In 2018, she returned to her original passion and joined the teaching staff at the Alliance Francaise of Denver. She is also passionate about yoga and pottery.  In her free time, she likes creating on the potter’s wheel, going for hikes, travelling to warm countries, discovering new cultures, and cooking for her children.

AFD Gala 2023 

After a 4 year hiatus, L'Alliance Française de Denver is proud to announce that we are back with our annual fundraising gala, featuring the theme 'La Belle Époque'. We would be honored to have you join us for the 2023 Alliance Française Annual Gala, with the featured theme of ‘La Belle Époque’, on the night of Saturday, October 14^th. La Belle Époque literally translates to the beautiful era. Paris’ Belle Époque lasted from 1871 to 1914. During this time, Parisian culture saw several important developments in impressionism, cubism, and revolutionized painting as well as graphic designer printmaking to a fine art form. Come join us as we celebrate this transformational period of time!

Library office hours at 571 Galapago are in full swing! Books are also for sale. The Library is open to AFD members only. The book sale is open to everyone! 

Join us for our monthly wine tasting in September! Many people say that wines from the Rhône Valley are their favorite French wines, and if you are one of them, we have the tasting for you!  Certified Sommelier Greta Arendsen will lead us through our third class in this wine education series focusing on the Northern and Southern Rhône.  This class will feature varietal wines of Syrah and Viognier from the Northern Rhône and blends from the Southern Rhône. You will learn the history of the region, specifics about allowable grape varieties and winemaking techniques, and have the opportunity to taste outstanding natural wines from small producers.  Space is limited, get your tickets soon!
