Wilma Lee Captures Victory at Deal Island Skipjack Race
This Labor Day, the Annapolis Maritime Museum’s historic skipjack Wilma Lee shined at the 66th Annual Deal Island Skipjack Race and Festival. Competing against 12 other vessels, Wilma Lee surged to the lead at the first mark and battled through light winds to finish 3rd overall and 2nd in the non-working class skipjacks category, her strongest result yet! Captain Kevin Lyons credited the performance to recent upgrades, including a new mast rake and sails funded by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority. With momentum on her side, Wilma Lee heads to Skipjack Heritage Day (Sept. 13 & 14) and the Cambridge race (Sept. 27).
September Sunsets 2025
The September Sunset Concert Series continues the fun of the summer with 4 weeks of great music, from rock to funk to hip-hop, with the incomparable backdrop of our Park Campus (7300 Edgewood Rd). Concerts are free; however, donations are gratefully accepted. Beer, cocktails, and wine will be available for purchase, with all beverage sales supporting the Museum’s education programs. Please note that no outside alcohol is permitted. Food trucks will also be on site to provide a variety of dining options, and we encourage you to bring a chair so you can relax and enjoy the evening.
