Following Elon Musk’s orders to lay off public workers, Arizonans have lost their jobs as inflation skyrockets and working families are still struggling to make ends meet. Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Robert Branscomb, II issued the following statement in reaction: 

“Arizonans did not vote for Elon Musk. This Administration has again proven they do not care about anything other than making themselves and their billionaire friends richer. I am saddened for those who have unnecessarily lost their job, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the many Arizona Democrats who are doing everything in their power to protect Arizonans from the Trump’s Administration’s crushing economic policies.” 

These layoffs come at the same time that 600,000 Arizonans face losing Social Security and Medicare benefits they have worked their entire lives for and this has to stop now.

Since taking office, the Trump Administration has enacted numerous disastrous policies that have negatively impacted our economy including: 

- Threatening to take away social security and medicare from seniors 

- Raising prescription drug prices 

- Putting a 25% tax on families and businesses in the state through reckless tariffs

- Eliminating worker protections 

- Shutting down the Department of Education 

- Firing public workers, including National Parks Service members that work across Arizona

- Decimating National Institutes of Health funding for cancer research, Alzheimer’s prevention and treatment, and other life-saving healthcare
