We hope this message finds you safe and well. Just over a month after Hurricane Helene forced us to close our doors, we are thrilled to announce the official reopening of the Asheville Art Museum! With power and running water restored, we’re ready to welcome you back safely to the Museum-with pay-what-you-wish admission for visitors from areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

Join us on site to explore our exhibitions, take a guided tour, or enjoy a cocktail while watching the sun set on the Blue Ridge Mountains. Don’t forget to shop local in the Museum Store and indulge in our new seasonal menu at the rooftop Perspective Café!

Both our city and community face a long road to full recovery-but we believe that coming together and finding inspiration is essential during these difficult times. We can’t wait to see you soon!

This exhibition merges art and technology, depicting fantastical landscapes where imagination plays a role in ecological renewal.

Upcoming Exhibitions & Events

American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection

November 16

American Made provides an in-depth look at the evolution of American creativity from the Colonial era to the early 20th century, featuring over 80 paintings and sculptures. Though many of these objects have been on view at other museums, ranging from the Metropolitan Museum of Art to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, this exhibition showcases the best of the DeMell Jacobsen Collection brought together in one location.

“This exhibition is a celebration of great American artists and their diverse contributions to the nation’s artistic history,” said Pamela L. Myers, Executive Director of the Asheville Art Museum. “We are honored to host American Made here in Asheville, giving our community and visitors the unique opportunity to engage with these exceptional works of art."

In coordination with this new exhibition, we will also be offering Express Tours and drop-in Makerspace activities to give visitors a deeper understanding of the artworks and themes of American Made. Check our event calendar soon for more details!

Little Crafty at the Museum: Artist Relief Edition

Join The Big Crafty, Horse & Hero, and the Asheville Art Museum in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene to support WNC artists this holiday season with Little Crafty at the Museum: Artist Relief Edition on November 16 & 23.

Shop from local artists in the Museum Atrium, visit the galleries, and enjoy a hot cocoa with Perspective Café. Following the Little Crafty, be sure to support WNC artists all holiday season and visit The Big Crafty, happening December 7 & 8 at Harrah's Cherokee Center!

Connecting Through Creativity

Hurricane Helene’s impact has left many artists in our region facing challenges, and the Asheville Art Museum is here to support their recovery. We’re offering conservation workshops to help artists preserve their work and hosting community art-making sessions in our plaza to bring people together through creativity. These activities, along with our ongoing art supply drive, allow us to stand with the community and rebuild together through the power of art.

How You Can Help

Our supply drive is still open for donations, and we have a wish list of essential items on Blick for those who would like to purchase supplies directly. Your contributions make it possible for artists to replace what was lost and continue creating.
