Calling all candy lovers! Villagers Theatre is excited to announce auditions for our upcoming Kidsvill production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka!

This delicious adventure follows Charlie Bucket on a visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious and magical chocolate factory in a captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film and new songs by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka is a scrumdiddlyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will take place at The Villagers Theatre at 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset NJ 08873. For directions and other information, visit www.villagerstheatre.org

The performance schedule is as follows:

Saturday, March 9 at 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM

Sunday, March 10 at 12:00 PM

Saturday, March 16 at 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM

Sunday, March 17 at 12:00 PM

AUDITIONS

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd and Wednesday, January 24th from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM. All those auditioning will be asked to sing a brief song as well as perform a simple dance combination. For those unable to attend in-person, video auditions may be submitted as an alternative.

As the creative team seeks to assemble a diverse cast of adult and child performers and create an identity-conscious production, all roles are open to all auditionees regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, disability status, or any other protected class.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theater selection and provide clearly marked sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist. Alternatively, prerecorded accompaniment may be played from Bluetooth compatible devices. A cappella auditions are not allowed.

Please wear comfortable, form-fitting attire that is easy to move in. Dance-style shoes are not necessary, but encouraged. Hair should be kept neatly out of the face. Photos and/or video of auditionees may be taken for reference purposes.

CALLBACKS

Callbacks will be held in-person on Saturday, January 27th, from 3:00 PM - 7:30 PM by invitation only. Those invited to callbacks will be notified no later than Thursday, January 25th.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Rehearsals will begin Tuesday, January 30th and will generally be four (4) days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with occasional Monday rehearsals. Evening rehearsals will generally take place from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM; weekend rehearsals will generally take place from 3:30 PM until 8:30 PM.

Additional rehearsals may be scheduled to accommodate conflicts or other rehearsal needs as performances draw closer.

Tech week rehearsals will occur every evening beginning Sunday, March 3rd and are mandatory for all cast members.
