Decompress at the Library as we celebrate National Coloring Day. We will provide adult coloring pages, blank paper for drawing, and coloring utensils. Calming music will be played and tea will be served, but you're welcome to bring your own earbuds or beverage. Stay for an hour or pop in for a few minutes. No pressure, just enjoy the zen. Ages 18 and up.
Resurrecting Edgar Allen Poe with Author Mindy McGinnis

Teen author Mindy McGinnis discusses the inspiration for her duology The Initial Insult and The Last Laugh which draw heavily on the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe while covering modern themes of class, bullying, and small-town politics. Wild Mushrooms: A World of Wonder at Our Feet

Learn about the diverse world of wild mushrooms including edible & toxic species, bioluminescent and hallucinogenic species, and much more!
Presented by Walt Sturgeon, who has over forty-five years of experience studying and identifying mushrooms. His award-winning photos of mushroom and fungi can be seen in numerous mushroom field guide publications, including his own publication Appalachian Mushrooms: a Field Guide.
Local History
Catherine Dobbs was born in Shreve, Ohio, and attended Barberton schools. She graduated around 1925, and then attended the University of Akron night school and Ohio State University. While at Ohio State she became interested in Barberton history, Ohio history, and government. It was at this time she worked in the Ohio House of Representatives and as a researcher in the Ohio Legislative Library.
The Barberton Public Library owns several copies of her 1947 book, Freedom’s Will: The Society of the Separatists of Zoar – A Historical Adventure of Religious Communism in Ohio.
Ms. Dobbs also served as the first and only female mayor of Barberton (1956-1961) and was reportedly the first woman mayor of a major industrial city.
