From: Beaches Museum and History ParkA Note from the Director
Dear Friends:
Well the dust is settling on a VERY busy spring and we are making the turn in to summer! Thank you to everyone who made our Fletcher All Class Block Party a success! We have a stellar committee (as we do for ALL of our events and programs!) and I’m so thankful for our amazing Chairs, Joanna Stachura and Margie Horvath for heading up this great group.
Want to learn more about getting involved? Make sure to attend our upcoming Volunteer Orientation! We’ll talk about all the opportunities available for volunteers!
Coming right up is “National Travel & Tourism Week!” May 7-13 is designed to “celebrate the U.S. travel community and travel’s essential role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, inspiring new businesses and elevating the quality of life for Americans every day.” So in case you needed an excuse to come visit our “Wish You Were Here: Tourism at the World’s Finest Beach” history exhibit, this is a great one!
As always, thank you for your support of the Beaches Museum!
Sincerely,
Chris Hoffman
Executive Director

Chapel Concert: Webb Wilder
Join Beaches Museum for a Chapel Concert by Webb Wilder in the historic Beaches Museum Chapel on May 18 at 7:00 p.m.
Long before there were Kings of Leon or Whites of Jack in Music City there was a riddle spewing prophet of roots rock and roll. Webb Wilder is a bluesy blast of baritone bombast. Equally versed in two glorious worlds, Rock and Roll – with a strong side of Outlaw Country, Wilder is a force on tour and a tour de force. He is the last of the Full Grown Men and Roots Rock Royalty.
Wilder is an evangelist for real Rock ‘n’ Roll. As a singer, guitarist, bandleader, film actor, songwriter and humorist, he may be roots-rock’s only true Renaissance man. In listening, one can hear a marvelous encapsulation of things right and righteous, wistful yet wild, strange at times but always strong.
Individual Advanced Tickets: $35
Chapel Concerts are held in the historic Beaches Museum Chapel. Shows start at 7:00 p.m., check in begins and refreshments are served at 6:30 p.m. Seats are first come, first serve.

Wish You Were Here: Tourism at the World's Finest Beach
Take a journey through history to see the growth of the Beaches, with the combination of tradition and innovation that has been the hallmark of Beaches tourism.
Since the 1800s, tourism has brought people from all over the United States and beyond to the Beaches, and many visitors now call the Beaches home. These visitors helped create employment and prosperity that caused the Beaches to grow.
Learn how tourism has supported the Beaches and made this community the inviting and beautiful destination it is today.
The exhibit will be on display at the Museum from March 3 to July 9. Several events will accompany this exhibit, including a Boardwalk Talk on Lost Restaurants of Jacksonville with Dorothy Fletcher on May 18.
For more information on the exhibit and events visit www.beachesmuseum.org or call 904.241.5657.
