UCLA Health, Cancer Care

Join us in celebrating AFRICA DAY!

The inaugural event Fest Afrik, aims to showcase the diverse and rich cultures of Africa. It takes place on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, from 12-6 pm at the Venice Beach Recreation Center (Winward Plaza). Celebrating Africa Day, the public is invited to attend and participate in a range of African cultural activities through music, food, fashion, storytelling, arts, and crafts.

The City's Concerts on Cañon summer season kicks off with a Pride Night concert in partnership with the City, Music Forward Foundation and the Next Beverly Hills Committee, on Thursday, June 1 at 6 PM, at Beverly Cañon Gardens located at 241 North Cañon Drive. 

The Pride Night concert and celebration will include past winners of the Music Forward Foundation’s LGBTQIA+ Emerging Artist Awards: Leopold Nunan and Kymistry. Leopold Nunan, also known as Leo from Rio, is a dance music award-winning artist and performer extraordinaire and Kymistry is an emerging contemporary R&B artist.

Chamber, City & County Updates

Beverly Hills Voters To Decide the Fate of Ultra-Luxury LVMH Hotel Project

The Beverly Hills voters will decide on Tuesday, May 23rd, whether to rescind the City Council's approval of a hotel project spearheaded by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. The hotel will have a members-only club, restaurants, retail, and a spa. It will rise at the northernmost of those three blocks, abutting Little Santa Monica Boulevard. The city’s development agreement with LVMH would contribute $26 million to the city’s general fund, in addition to $2 million for art and cultural programs. The city would also receive an additional 5% surcharge over its regular 14% transient occupancy tax.

Beverly Hills voters will be asked two ballot questions: whether they approve of the zoning amendment that would allow the hotel to be constructed, and whether they approve of the development agreement.
