More wind this week, we’ve had about enough! Flip side, no snow drifts, icicles or below zero temperatures. We’ll take the wind.
Welcome new members Helen James and new local business Ellis and Samuels, owner Mary Purvis.
This week has started out a little slower than the last, on Monday I was driving around town and stopped at a few restaurants and noticed the same thing, a nice break for everyone. As the week progresses to a 3-day holiday weekend the town will be back to go-mode.
Reminder to RSVP for the Mardi Gras Mixer (2/23) by 5 PM on Monday (2/20). Out of courtesy we want to give our host location/ Arches Restaurant plenty of time to get ready.
The Chamber/Welcome Center continues to help a steady stream of flower seekers, it's interesting how the words in one sentence, desert and flowers, seems so foreign to many of our visitors.
Have a wonderful Presidents’ Day weekend.

Honorary Co- Mayors Message
By Jim and Anne Wermers
It’s that time of year. Things are hopping. Lots and lots of people in town. Lines of cars and trucks beginning to snake in and out of town, up and down the grade.
Restaurants, stores and resorts are feeling the love. Cash registers are ringing. Local employees are working many long hours.
We can feel the change. Borrego is becoming big time. Fortunately, not with the same intensity as big cities, but plenty big for our little town. We now need to look both ways before crossing streets, parking is kind of a zoo around the sculptures, and we may have to wait to get a seat at local restaurants.
Overall, everyone who has been working so hard to make Borrego Springs more
prominent on the world radar has done a great job! With this early success, it may soon be time to reevaluate where we are and where we want to go. What do we want our little town to look and feel like? How do we preserve our peaceful way of life while also being commercially viable?
In the meantime, we plan to enjoy all our town has to offer. Live events at the
Performing Arts Theater and pop-up concerts around town. Garden tours, lectures, art classes, golf tournaments and fundraisers. Plein Air and Circle of Art.
We especially look forward to visits from family and friends. Exploring the Park, hanging at the pool, enjoying warm and sunny days.
We live in a special place. We are so grateful. Enjoy.
