Notes from the Executive Director

Friday Update on Farmers Market, the market is scheduled to take place. However, due to inclement weather, vendors have the option to participate or not. Most food vendors hope to attend, however vendors with items that can be damaged by rain (if it rains) will not come. We will all see what Mother Nature has in store for us.

The Christmas decorating contest returns with awards for “Best Overall Business” and “Best Overall Residence.” To vote, call the Chamber at 760-767-5555, or send an email to [email protected], with the address or company name. One vote per person, you can vote for one or both. The deadline to vote is December 22 at 5 pm Winners will be posted on the Chamber's Facebook page.

Message from the Honorary Mayors

As we look toward the end of the year and the beginning of busy season in Borrego Springs, we Borregans have a lot to be thankful for. We are surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty, blessed by natural plants and wildlife. We don't have much traffic and most of the year our weather is excellent.

It's usually dry enough that we can be outside whenever we want. Our skies are pollution-free and clear enough to see stars that most people in the world cannot see.

But most of all we are grateful for our neighbors and friends who live here with us. They volunteer and donate to our nonprofits. They share their talents in art, film and music with us. They pick up trash to keep our streets clean and are really friendly to each other.

We know that Borrego is not for everyone and we like it that way. For those of us who live and work here, Borrego is a special and wonderful place.
