Governor Brian Kemp threw his full support behind a Trump-backed Republican budget that could lead to deep cuts to Medicaid – which 2 million Georgians rely on for health care.
The Republican Governors Association – which Kemp chairs – sent a letter this week in support of the Trump-backed Republican budget, which calls for $880 billion in cuts by the committee that oversees Medicaid. Health policy experts agree that cuts to the health programs are inevitable under Republicans’ budget plan.
“Brian Kemp’s full-throated support for the GOP’s budget plan that could jeopardize life-saving health care for millions of his constituents is shameful,” said DPG spokesperson Alex Yerkey. “This is just the latest outrageous example of Kemp bending the knee to Trump and letting Georgians pay the price.”
