From: The Provincetown TheaterOn Monday, July 14 at 7pm, we’ll begin our rollicking journey with Christopher Durang’s hilarious comedy, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play of the Year, Durang’s laugh-out-loud tale tells the story of two middle-aged siblings living together in an old farmhouse in Bucks County, Pennsylvania who receive a surprise visit from their glamorous movie star sister, Masha. With her handsome young lover, Spike, in tow, Masha upends their quiet lives with family drama, unexpected romance, and a costume party, all the while putting the story -- as its celebrated author has stated -- “into a Chekhov blender.”
Along with winning the Tony Award, the show is also the recipient of the Drama League Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award.
To bring this gorgeous work to life, we've got a fantastic cast. Indeed, I'm thrilled to have nabbed four terrific comedic actors from our community to star in the show: William Mullin (Casa Valentina) as bookworm Vanya, Jennifer Cabral (Almost, Maine) as shut-in Sonia, Susan Lambert (The Fade-Away Advantage) as movie star Masha, and Hilarie Tamar (The Rocky Horror Show) as the mysterious soothsayer housekeeper, Cassandra.
Add to that, two dazzling young talents making their Provincetown Theater debuts -- 2025 Northwestern University graduate, Lena Moore, as the ingenue Nina, and New York actor and model, Jeff Brackett, as the hyper-hunk Spike -- and you're going to have a fabulous evening of joy and laughter!
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike plays Mondays thru Thursdays all summer, beginning July 14th. Performances are at 7pm. Season subscribers can redeem their seats by logging-in to their online profile, while single tickets can be purchased by clicking on the link below
