LANSING - Earlier today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer addressed the Detroit Auto Show where she emphasized her plans to work with Republicans to serve Michiganders. Whitmer showed Michiganders that her priority in office is to continue lowering costs, creating high-paying jobs, and building up the middle class. 

“Once again, Governor Whitmer has shown us all that leadership means putting aside partisan politics, rolling up our sleeves, and getting the job done for Michigan,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “We are so proud that Governor Whitmer is committed to supporting our auto workers, creating more jobs, boosting research and innovation, and putting money back in people’s pockets. 

“The only way this works is if Republicans and Democrats show up to the table. So far, Republicans in the state House have shown no willingness to reach across the aisle and work with us, but, no matter what, Michigan Democrats will continue to fight for an agenda that leaves no Michigander behind.”
