Seattle, WA – Chair Shasti Conrad released the following statement upon passage of U.S. Senate Republican’s party-line vote to pass a reconciliation bill:

“In the dead of night, Senate Republicans sold out their constituents and every other American by lining the pockets of billionaires and oligarchs at the expense of poor and working class families. The Republican reconciliation bill pays for extending Trump tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy by gutting Medicaid which more than 90 million Americans and 1.9 million Washingtonians rely on for lifesaving care. Make no mistake, people will suffer and die because Senate Republicans would rather their wealthy campaign donors like Co-President Elon Musk pay even less in taxes than reduce the cost of living and ensure health care for everyone else. When our hospitals are packed with uninsured Americans, voters should remember it was Republicans in Congress who put them there.”
