CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – In recognition of National Veterans Small Business Week, the City of Corpus Christi's Office of Economic Development is shining a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of veteran-owned businesses to the City's economic landscape. From October 30 to November 3, the City will share inspirational stories of veteran entrepreneurs on its social media platforms, highlighting their journeys and the invaluable support they received from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

Among these inspiring stories is that of Pam Chavez, a veteran who turned her passion for pizza into a thriving business venture. Chavez sought guidance from the SBDC, receiving assistance with business plan development, financial projections, and secured financing. With the SBDC's help, Pam successfully launched her pizzeria, creating employment opportunities for eight individuals.

"Pam's story is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit of our veterans and the transformative impact of the SBDC's resources," said Heather Hurlbert, Assistant City Manager. "We are committed through the City’s Type B funds to support the SBDC and their efforts in supporting veteran-owned businesses and other small businesses. We encourage everyone to join us in celebrating their contributions during National Veterans Small Business Week."

The City of Corpus Christi invites residents and visitors to honor veteran entrepreneurs by patronizing veteran-owned businesses, sharing their stories on social media, and spreading the word about the SBDC's services.
