JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing specialized accounting duties in support of the City and Water Board’s cash disbursement activities. This position will report to the Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

-Reviews, verifies, and processes payroll for the City and Water Board.

-Reviews, verifies, and processes vendor checks for the City and Water Board.

-Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts monthly and annually for City and Water Board.

-Performs various accounting and financial transaction duties.

-Performs a variety of administrative duties and prepares related reports.

-Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; one (1) to three (3) years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   

Special Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

-Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as prescribed by GASB and FASB.

-Knowledge of auditing principles and practices.

-Knowledge of the financial management system, including financial management and payroll software.

-Knowledge of financial analysis techniques.

-Knowledge of banking procedures related to bank accounts management.

-Knowledge of local government operations, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures.

-Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.

-Skill in applying analytical methods and in organizing significant quantities of detailed financial and finance-related information.

-Skill in the interpretation of various types of financial data.

-Skill in using computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.

-Skill in the use of small office equipment, including calculators, copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.

-Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing.

-Ability to meet and deal with employees and the public in an effective and courteous manner.

-Ability to get along with others, and work effectively with the public and co-workers.

-Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.

-Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.

-Ability to work independently, work well with others, and manage time effectively.
