New Year Holiday Facility Hours

City of Coppell administrative offices, Coppell Municipal Court, and Coppell Senior and Community Center will be closed on Monday, January 2, in observance of the New Year holiday. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Holiday hours for other City of Coppell facilities are as follows:

- The Biodiversity Education Center and Coppell Arts Center will be closed Saturday, December 31 – Monday, January 2. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3.
- The CORE will be open from 7 am – 5 pm on Saturday, December 31 and will be closed Sunday, January 1. The indoor pool at The CORE is also closed through January 1, 2023 for annual maintenance. Regular business hours will resume Monday, January 2.
- Cozby Library and Community Commons and Coppell Animal Services will be closed Sunday, January 1 – Monday, January 2, and will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, January 3.
- Wagon Wheel Tennis and Pickleball Center will close at 3 pm Saturday, December 31 and will be closed on Sunday, January 1. Regular business hours will resume Monday, January 2.

Trash service will not be affected.

Coppell Refuse Rates to Increase in 2023

Coppell residents should expect to see a slight increase in the refuse collection fee on their monthly utility bills. Beginning January 1, 2023, trash and recycling fees will rise by three percent, per the City’s contract with Republic Services.

For residential customers, refuse rates will increase from $18.22 per month to $18.77 per month, plus $1.55 in sales tax and a $0.10 public education fee. Utility account holders with the senior discount will see their rates increase from $16.40 per month to $16.89 per month, plus $1.39 in sales tax and a $0.10 public education fee. Commercial utility accounts will also see their rates increase by three percent.

Library Continues to Accept Cash in 2023 (Correction)

Last week, the Cozby Library and Community Commons announced plans to become a cashless facility effective in January and the effects it would have on its printing services. However, in order to sustain its full range of existing services, the library will continue to accept cash in 2023. The changes described in last week’s announcement will no longer take effect.

All current printing and photocopying services will remain available. Black and white printing and photocopying costs $0.15 per page. Color printing and photocopying costs $0.50 per page. Printing will not be limited to 20 pages per job.

Payment for printing, copying, lost items, or non-resident memberships may be paid with cash, personal check, money order, or credit/debit card. All credit/card transactions will incur a non-refundable $2 convenience fee.

The library regrets the necessity of this correction, but is glad to be able to sustain its current range of services.

It’s Time Texas Community Challenge

Christmas Tree Disposal

If you’re ready to part with your real Christmas tree, recycle it by turning it into mulch or compost for your own yard, or include it in your Wednesday yard trimmings recycling. Remove any decorations and place your unflocked Christmas tree at the end of your driveway by 7 am on Wednesdays for pickup.

How it works:

Download the playing card. Each card contains a total of 15 clues that will lead participants to a variety of local stores, restaurants, and boutiques. Participants should solve the clues and take the action described. Once at least 12 clues have been solved, bring your receipts/proof of action to the Coppell Town Center Annex, 265 Parkway Blvd. or submit them via email to be entered into a drawing for a prize! Your receipts must be submitted by Friday, January 6, 2023, to be entered into the drawing.

Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Holiday fun is hidden all over the city! To participate in the hunt, simply solve the clues, find each of the five holiday ambassadors hidden around town, pose for a photo with each, and then upload the photos to social media with the hashtag #coppellholidays! Be sure to tag the City of Coppell on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. There are multiple holiday-themed ambassadors hidden around Coppell, but only a special few will earn Coppell's holiday enthusiasts a prize. Consider the clues carefully!

Once you’ve solved the clues, taken photos, posted, and tagged accordingly, stop by Town Center, 255 Parkway Blvd., to claim your prize (while supplies last)! Happy hunting!

Through December 31, stop by the front desk at the Cozby Library and Community Commons to drop needed supplies off in the donation box. Your donations ensure Animal Services can send each new pet parent home with supplies.

- Cat Litter (scoopable preferred)
- Rawhide bones (medium or large)

The CORE is looking for enthusiastic, mature, safety-minded individuals who want to serve their community to join their lifeguard team! Positions are currently open for Lifeguard and Head Lifeguard. You provide a great attitude, and we'll provide the training!

Coppell Farmers Market

The Coppell Farmers Market is closed for the holidays the next few weeks and will reopen for the winter season on Saturday, January 14. The CFM will be open the second and fourth Saturdays of the month through March. Weekly markets will return in April.

Mindfulness Practice

This free class is presented by Grow It Land Designs and hosted by Keep Coppell Beautiful and the Coppell Senior and Community Center. Space is limited and registration is required for each participant. For ages 12+
