From: City of DavisThe City of Davis Parks and Community Services Department is gearing up for a fun-filled summer. The department is thrilled to offer a wide variety of summer programs, camps and classes. Through the programs, staff strives to create positive memories, build friendship connections and provide safe, quality programs for all participants.
The Summer Rec Guide is now available online at www.cityofdavis.org/recguide and registration dates are set. The department will hold a first-come, first-served summer registration both online and in person, opening at 7:00 a.m. for Davis residents only on March 8 and March 22. The March 8 programs are restricted to one week, per participant, per program enrollment (waiting list enrollment applies).
March 8 at 7:00 a.m. programs include:
- Camp Putah
- Trekkers
- Horse Camp
- Private swim lessons between June 19-July 20 (Residents only)
March 22 at 7:00 a.m. programs include:
- All other camps
- Group swim lessons between June 19-July 20
Residents are asked to practice logging into the parks registration system and check out the household member information. Check the age and grade of the youth household members. Residents should also be familiar with adding programs to the shopping cart prior to registration.
For more information or questions, please contact [email protected] or call the department office at 530-757-5626.
Additionally, the City is hosting a Children’s Summer Activity Fair on Wednesday, March 1, from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center (203 E. Fourteenth St). This free event will have dozens of organizations in attendance that are offering youth programs this summer and residents can get tips on how to register from staff.
Last November 2022, Parks and Community Services launched a survey seeking feedback from residents on their preferred registration process for recreation programs and classes. The survey’s goal was to assess current practices and identify possible modifications to ensure the department was meeting the needs and preferences of Davis residents. The survey was open for two weeks and received 535 responses. The first-come, first-served method continued to be the preferred registration method (as it was in an April 2015 survey) with 62 percent of the votes. Lottery style received 38 percent.
