The lack of affordable housing has received much attention in the media lately.  In this 37 minute video, Friends of Delray interviews two experts - Kristyn Cox and Ezra Krieg - about this important and tricky issue.  One issue mentioned by Mr. Krieg is that the core of the problem rests with local zoning laws, and their inability to adapt to the severe housing shortage.  Both experts also note that most of the focus on this issue is against Workforce housing, which supports middle class residents.  There is little attention against the 25% of our residents making 60% of the Median Income or less.

Given the significant level of homelessness in our downtown area and sharply rising housing prices in our city, Friends of Delray supports reforms to our land use regulations.
