Enjoy an art-filled Saturday: Explore Evanston's thriving arts scene this Saturday, Jan. 7 as part of First Saturday Evanston, hosted by Evanston Made. Check out studio tours, pop-up exhibits, artist talks, and more! 

Shop sales along Central: Enjoy extra savings on holiday, fall and winter clearance items at Central Street Evanston's annual InSidewalk Sale, January 12 through 14.

Celebrate Dr. King’s legacy at Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre's “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration,” hosted in partnership with the Music Institute of Chicago, on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 3 p.m., at Nichols Concert Hall. Reserve your free tickets.

Register for the City's free Financial Preparedness Training, presented by the Office of Emergency Management, on Thurs., Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Robert Crown Community Center.

COVID-19 Update

Cases: Evanston reported 114 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last seven days, compared to 111 for the week prior. The current seven-day moving average of daily confirmed cases is 16.29.

COVID-19 Community Risk Level: MEDIUM

Hospitalizations: View local COVID-19 hospitalizations.

There's life after the holidays for trees and string lights

As a reminder, City crews will pick up Christmas trees for recycling through Fri., Jan. 27 on residents' regular refuse pickup day, and holiday string lighting can be dropped off for recycling at the Levy Senior Center, Ecology Center and Robert Crown Center through January 31. 

Two community meetings coming up

- Church Street Redevelopment: Attend a community meeting tonight, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at 1815 Church St., where Mt. Pisgah Ministry and the Housing Opportunity Development Corporation will discuss a proposal for the 1800 block of Church Street.

- Reimagining Independence Park: Provide your input and ideas for potential improvements to Independence Park at a community meeting on Tues., Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Chandler-Newberger Community Center.

Need to repair your ride?

The City’s Parking Services Division has installed three new Dero Fixit bike repair stations in the Sherman Plaza, Church Street and Maple Avenue parking garages!

What you'll find: Each station is free to use and provides bicyclists with an air pump and other tools to perform basic repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat tire to adjusting brakes. 

Why they're there: The stations support the City’s Climate Action and Resilience Plan goal of increasing the number of trips made by bicycling.

Who put them there: Thank you to the City’s parking maintenance staff for installing the stations and Administrative Services staff for procuring them!
