From: City Of EvanstonEVANSTON, IL - The City of Evanston invites community members to start the New Year more financially secure by attending a free Financial Preparedness Training hosted by the Office of Emergency Management.
The free event will be held Thursday, January 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Robert Crown Community Center (Room B), 1801 Main St., in Evanston.
This event will help attendees:
-Understand why financial preparedness is essential for everyone, regardless of how much money they make
-Understand the difference between asset poverty and financial poverty, and identify ways to protect themselves and their family from everyday emergencies
-Learn how to become better prepared for even minor emergencies with limited income
-Understand what documents to collect today to be better prepared to respond and recover when an emergency does happen
-Learn ways to stay safe from financial scammers
Register
Community members are encouraged to register in advance for this event. Free emergency preparedness starter kits will be available for the first 50 individuals who register. Coffee and tea will also be provided at the event.
